REPORT ON FIRST EXPEDITION TO GLACIERS AND GLACIER LAKES IN THE PUMQU (ARUN) AND POIQU (BHOTE-SUN KOSI) RIVER BASINS, XIZANG (TIBET), CHINA. Sino-Nepalese Investigation of Glacier Lake Outburst Floods in the Himalayas
This technical report is the outcome of first Sino-Nepalese joint expedition to study glaciers and glacier lakes of the Pumqu(Arun)and Poiqu(Bhote-Sun Kosi)River Basins.
This report contains description of the areas investigated,methodologies and equipments uesd to conduct the field work,the data collected on the glaciers and lakes surveyed concerning their geology,geomorphology,hydrology,meteorology and mapping.It also includes the evaluation of the collected data and comprehensive inventory of glacier and glacier lakes of two basins.
This report will be useful documents for glaciologists,hydrologists as well as engineers dealing with planning and management of water resources in the Himalayan Region.
